Description
This Monday morning, I had an unusually vivid film-dream that my brain was telling me was Reservoir Dogs, even though it was a romantic comedy. It was set in a cubist living complex in an alternate-universe Sri Lanka. Starring Meg Ryan and Harvey Keitel.
Started "watching" half way through. The complex had wide tunnels underneath it and Meg Ryan was driving down them in a motorbike. She came out in a small well-lit plaza with carpet floors and an enclosed roof. All the walls were white. She went to a cafe and talked to the male lead.
There was a subplot about a murder carried out by Harvey Keitel's character. A Sri Lankan police officer was killed by a drugged up prisoner in a dark laboratory somewhere in the complex. Meg Ryan had to hide among some schoolkids while some gang members shot up the plaza.
Later on, Meg Ryan was driving down the tunnel again on her motorbike. She came out into the serengeti and watched some baboons, then had to head back after some cheetahs appeared. She ran back to the complex which was like a huge white 1960s cubist building with sporadic windows, then escaped to a side tunnel where the cheetah was still chasing. An old woman showed up with her bike-riding panther and got the cheetah to turn back. Then I woke up. I was convinced the film in my dream was real, but once I woke up I realised it wasn't.
I had to draw some of these scenes before they faded from my memory completely. The cinematography was amazing.
